As Christmas approaches, CapaCare is preparing for the new year and the expansion of the Surgical Training Programme to include paediatric and internal medicine strands, assisted by the expertise of our partners, German Doctors and Partners in Health. The new year will also see the start of integration of the Programme into the Makeni School of Clinical Sciences, with support from the Ministry of Health and Sanitation in Sierra Leone. This process is expected to take at least five years.
Combined, the Programme will help reduce maternal, neonatal, infant and adult mortality, providing life-saving surgery in some of the most under-resourced, disadvantaged and remote regions of Sierra Leone.
