CapaCare´s Surgical Trainig Program in Liberia is looking for a:
Training Coordinator (MD or MPH)
The Training Coordinator will oversee the implementation of CapaCare´s activities in Liberia. This includes program managment, training-related activities as well as clinical work.
CapaCare Liberia
CapaCare is an international non-govermental organization with chapters in Liberia, the Netherlands, Norway and Sierra Leone. CapaCare aims to strengthen the medical and surgical capacity in low-income countries. CapaCare works in close collaboration with national health authorities and aims to increase access to surgcal care for the most vulnerable and rural populations. CapaCare has been present in Liberia since 2021 and supports the postgraduate training program in Surgery and in Obstetrics and Gynaecology through a rural rotation and skills-based training courses. The office for the program is situated at the Jackson F. Doe Memorial Hospita(JFD) in Tapita, Nimba County.
About the role
The job consists of three main working areas: program development and management, patient care, and teaching. We invite candidates with a master in public health (or equivalent and/or medical degree with experience in surgery/obstetrics to apply. For applicants that are medical doctors, we expect the candidate to be involved in patient care as part of the medical team at JFD Hospital. The program coordinator will report to the country director.
Program management
- Strengthen and expand the network of partner hospitals
- Planning of rural rotation and training activities
- Organising short courses and hosting international and national trainers
- Evaluate and monitor program activities and outcomes, including reporting
Program development
- Development and implementation of continuous medical education (CME) program
- Establishment of a Board for CapaCare Liberia
- Grant writing and reporting
Patient Care (only for MDs)
- Inpatient and outpatient care
- Preforming operations and assisting in deliveries
- Weekend and night duties

CapaCare offers a 1-year contract with a 3-month probation period and the possibility of renewal. CapaCare provides basic furnished housing in Tappita and a monthly allowance to cover expenses for travel, living, insurance, etc. The allowance will be based on your qualifications and experience.
