In the last week of March CapaCare hosted surgical training for resident doctors at Monrovia´s John F. Kennedy Hospital. CapaCare trainer and surgeon Katja Maschuw is based at Masanga hospital in neighbouring Sierra Leone, but made the trip to Liberia to share some of her experience from more than 20 years in the field of surgery. Training sessions focused on the topic of hernia repair in low-resource settings and the attendants was able to practice the techniques on experimental 3D printed models.
