CapaCare has proven to inspire many professionals who encounter its work. Therefore the organization has grown in the last ten years on all levels. To sustainably expand all activities structural reorganization was imminent. In light of this reorganization there was an opportunity to start a Dutch sister organization: CapaCare Netherlands (CapaCare NL). An enthusiastic group of six Dutch Global Health doctors, who have all been working in Masanga Hospital with CapaCare, initiated and worked out the start off of CapaCare NL.
CapaCare has gone through turbulent times in the last couple of months. The loss of a dear friend and colleague has touched us deeply. CapaCare is determined to continue the good work and to carry on improving the organisational structures. After several meetings, collaborative work and many fruitful debates we proudly announce that CapaCare Netherlands is now officially established. Our mission is in line with the overall CapaCare organization: to sustainably improve the competencies of health care workers in low resource settings.
The following main areas of focus of CapaCare NL are identified by its foundation.
To improve the quality of training of health care workers, through;
- continued development of curriculum
- to select and support external trainers
- provide intervision for medical coordinators
- to support life-long learning of graduated health care workers
- to strengthen and maintain national and international professional collaborating networks
We are looking forward to sustainably contributing to medical capacity building in low resource settings.
