Capacare´s Surgical Training Program has come a long way since the first preparations where made in 2009. In January 2011 the program started with only two students and one training facility. By now we have built a strong network of partner-hospitals throughout the country and enroll new students twice yearly. Needles to say there has been some challenges along the way. In 2014 West-African Ebola epidemic brought the program to a halt and took the lives of two of our students. Joseph Heindilo Ngegba and Samuel Batty contracted the virus while caring for their patients and they are dearly missed. On the 22nd of April however it was time for us to celebrate ourself and our students. A big graduation ceremony was hosted in Masanga and 27 graduates was presented their diplomas in front of friends, family and visiting dignitaries.
