When did you stay at Masanga?
One week, February 2012

What was your motivation for going to Masanga?
Learning about the African country SL. Looking into how one of the poorest countries in the world are doing, trying to teach away some knowledge of biomedical equipment.

What was your first meeting with Masanga like?
Smiling people doing their very best with the tools and equipment they have.

What was your main duties while at the hospital?
Fixing as much I could of the biomedical equipment, evaluate at the possibilities of internet communication capabilities, looking at the security of the powersupply.
My idea was trying to learn them as much as I could of my knowledge to give them the best base for self sustainability.

What have you learned from this experience?
It is very difficult doing projects like this in a country so devastated from war and corruption. Despite this, the people are so positive and interested in learning. This was an exciting experience for me and gave me a very good look into the African world and its challenges.

What is your advice to others that are thinking about going to Sierra Leone and Masanga?
Bring all you need from home. Live African speed(slow). Enjoy Africa!
